For Prospective Residents
Curriculum:
PGYI - Vacation
Each resident receives 4 weeks of vacation each year. This may be taken either as one 4-week block or as two 2-week blocks. Please note that if a resident is away from their continuity clinic, they must be back for at least two months before they may have a break in continuity again. This must be kept in mind when setting up schedules in the PGYIII year as each resident receives 4 weeks of vacation and may take an away elective.
Responsibilities of the resident on vacation :
During your vacation time, there are no responsibilities, however, there are several things that must be done prior to the beginning of vacation:
- Pager must be signed out either to another resident in your own color team OR to on vacation
- Mailbox at your continuity clinic must be covered by another resident of your own team – Please mark your box accordingly
- Your email must be covered by the Out of Office Assistant – this is found under the menu ‘options’
- Any continuity issues must be signed out to the covering residents
- Any continuity Obstetrical patients must be covered by another resident who is to assume the prenatal visits and delivery
- Any nursing home patients also must be covered by another resident, which would include the monthly nursing home visit
