Each resident receives 4 weeks of vacation each year. This may be taken either as one 4-week block or
as two 2-week blocks. Please note that if a resident is away from their continuity clinic, they must
be back for at least two months before they may have a break in continuity again. This must be kept
in mind when setting up schedules in the PGYIII year as each resident receives 4 weeks of vacation
and may take an away elective.
During your vacation time, there are no responsibilities, however, there are several things that
must be done prior to the beginning of vacation:
Pager must be signed out either to another resident in your own color team OR to on
Mailbox at your continuity clinic must be covered by another resident of your own team.

Your email must be covered by the Out of Office Assistant - this is found under the
Any continuity issues must be signed out to the covering residents
Any continuity Obstetrical patients must be covered by another resident who is to assume
the prenatal visits and delivery
Any nursing home patients also must be covered by another resident, which would include
the monthly nursing home visit
