Book Resources for Interns

Where Can I Find Them?

There are tons of books. You have to choose the ones that fit your needs and your reading style. This list is based on what I have used, what I am using and what people told me to use. Please feel free to send any suggestions or recommendations.

We need to be prepared before arriving to the floor. I had a great experience when the Modesto seniors hosted a welcome dinner for the new interns. They showed us their favorite books. For example, I learned about the Evidence Based Admitting Orders (I love this book), the Clinician’s Pocket Reference (the scut monkey) and the Pocket Medicine - These 3 you MUST have before rotating on a medicine service or ICU.

Sometimes we have the books and we do not have time to read them, but it is better to have them when we do need them!

Best regards,
Gilberto
