Drs. Acosta and Casillas to develop medical Spanish training manual and DVD

The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in collaboration with the UCLA IMG Program have provided the opportunity for Drs. Cristina Acosta and Miguel Casillas to develop a medical Spanish training manual along with a DVD demonstrating Spanish-speaking patient and doctor interviews. The 79-page manual provides an outstanding review of medical Spanish written by doctors for doctors.

Two years ago, Drs. Gilberto Cota and Susan Rojas served as course instructors and layed the groundwork for subsequent classes. To date, the UCLA IMG Program has eductated to over 60 medical students. This year, there were over 40 applicants for the course that currently has a roster of 22 students. Drs. Acosta and Casillas began teaching the course on September 8, 2008. Any IMGs in Program B who are interested in becoming course instructors should contact Dr. Acosta and Casillas.
